Procedure

  1. Patient supine with leg straight
  2. Examiner supports the knee with both hands and wobbles it from side to side, while moving the knee through ranges of flexion and extension

Interpretation

Positive Wobble Test

Pain: Medial or lateral ligament strain, meniscal lesion

Increased motion/gapping: Medial or lateral collateral ligament rupture

 

Clinical Notes

This test is useful as a general screen to help localize and assess knee joint ligament stability.
