Procedure

  1. Patient standing
  2. Examiner palpates the patella and instructs the patient to perform several slow knee bends (repeated squat and rise)

Interpretation

Positive Waldron Test

Pain and/or crepitus: Chondromalacia patella, degenerative joint disease, osteochondritis of the patella, patellar fracture

Clinical Notes

This test provides a more active weight bearing functional assessment of patellar tracking on the femur.
