Indications

Sacroiliac Compression Test is used to determine if sacroiliac joint pathology is present.

Procedure

    Two versions:

  1. Patient supine, examiner places hands bilaterally on lateral pelvis & applies pressure from lateral to medial (compressing pelvis).
  2. Patient side-lying, examiner places hands on superior ilium & applies downwards pressure (compression pelvis).

Interpretation

Sacroiliac or anterior thigh pain Sacroiliac sprain/strain, fracture, SI joint dysfunction

Clinical Notes

Test directly stress the tissue & ligaments of the SI joint.
