Costoclavicular Maneuver test is a shoulder examination used to detect Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
- Patient seated, examiner bilaterally palpates radial pulse & pulls patient’s arms into extension (“exaggerated military posture”)
Positive Diminished pulse → costoclavicular TOS
Positive Arm pain, numbness, tingling → TOS of neurologic nature
Synonym: Eden’s Test, Military Brace Test
This test provides particularly relevant information in patient’s who display symptoms while wearing backpacks or other heavy items around the shoulders.
