Indications

Childress Duck Waddle is a procedure that provides functional weight bearing assessment of the medial and lateral meniscus of the knee.

Procedure

  1. Patient standing with feet approximately 1 meter apart and legs maximally internally rotated
  2. Patient then attempts a full squat
  3. Maneuver is repeated with patient’s legs externally rotated.

Interpretation

Positive Childress Duck Waddle Test

pain, inability to perform test or audible “clicking” and/or crepitus:
With internal rotation: lateral meniscus tear
With external rotation: medial meniscus tear
