Brachial Plexus Stretch test is used to reproduce radicular pain in the arms. If positive usually indicates cervical radiculopathy.
- Patient seated or supine
- Examiner passively elevates straight arm, then externally rotates arms and holds in position just before onset of symptoms
- Examiner then laterally flexes head and extends wrist.
- Positive Positive Reproduction of radicular symptoms with wrist extension: Cervical radiculopathy (commonly C5).
Consider cervical spine flexion for further stretch brachial nerve roots (similar to lumbar flexion in maximal SLR).
